Exploring the Quick edit Smart Looks
When you want to add a touch of creativity to a photo with one of the Quick edit one-click effects, you may need to look no further than the Smart Looks feature.
New in Photoshop Elements 14, Smart Looks automatically analyzes the color and lighting in the image you’re working with, and then presents five different effect suggestions tailored to suit it. As with any of the Quick edit photo effects, you can take a Smart Look as it comes, or use it as a departure point for further editing.
- If necessary, switch to the Editor and click Quick in the mode picker at the top of the workspace. Click the Effects (fx) button below the right panel. If you don’t see the Photo Bin, click the Photo Bin button () at the lower left.
- Click the Open button (not the arrow beside it) at the upper left of the workspace. Locate your Lesson 4 folder and select all seven images; then, click Open. When the Camera Raw dialog opens for the raw image DSC_5683.NEF, click the Open Image button at the lower right.
Select each of the images in the Photo Bin in turn; for each photo, wait while Photoshop Elements generates the live effect previews, and then expand the Smart Looks pane to see the auto-suggested variants. Click the thumbnail for any suggestion that interests you to see the effect applied in the edit window.
- Choose File > Close All. When the save dialog appears, activate the Apply To All option, and then click Don’t Save.
