Developing a ColdFusion/J2EE Solution

Chapter Description

This article kicks off in the midst of fictional Sonic Systems' web project. It shows how the aim in creating a project blueprint was to eliminate the possibility for changes in the architecture during development, and to help development go as smoothly as possible.

Creating a Real User and Testing

When this was all completed, the development team walked through the application with Rhonda and had her set up a new affiliation and a new user with that affiliation. She logged out as administrator and back in as her new user—and it worked!

For the next few days, Project Omega asked a number of different people to road test the portal. They divided up tasks and had different people use them. They tried cutting out URL variables, entering erroneous data, anything that could possible break the system. After the team fixed a number of problems, the application was ready to debut at Sonic Systems.
